WOW where did 2011 go? A lot has happened for me in 2011. God graced me with a beautiful new wife that not only helps me grow with the Lord but challenges me to do so threw testing my patients. With the new year here and everyone starting new diets, work outs, and many many other things and after some prayer time with the Lord I felt it was time to resurrect ReNewed. This is especially the time to start a new journey with the Lord, following Jesus and the Bible is not just for the Holidays.
Proverbs 16:9 says “In his heart a man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps.” (NIV)
The Lord knows your hearts desires Psalm 37:4 tells us “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (NIV) This year my goal as the main contributor to the ReNewed Ministry is to take a deep look into what the meaning of being a Christian is. Each and every Chirstian has room to grow.
Out with the old in with the ReNew
Happy New Year
As we close out 2011 and start a new with 2012 I am excited to announce that the Renewed team will be back with weekly posts starting this week. Please let all your friends and family know and as always your support and comments are always welcome.
Best Wishes for 2012 and God Bless you in everything you do!

Healing prayer
With just a look your way your pain and suffering can go away. More times than I could count this is in the Bible. Some are quick to give up when it comes to Prayer and asking God to heal us. In Acts 3 it tells of a man born with out the ability to walk. A man that sat outside the Temple named “Beautiful’ and begged for silver and gold. People were used to seeing the man as he was always there. One day Peter and John were entering into the Temple for prayer when the man asked them for money. Peter looked at the man said “Look at us” so the man did. Then Peter said “ I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth walk” Taking him by the hand he helped the man who had been crippled all his life and helped him up. Instantly the man’s legs and feet became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went into the temple courts, walking and jumping and praising God. The rest of the passage I will leave to you to read on your own. It is a amazing story of the grace God gives. That man had not prayed that he would walk. He was doing what he had done every day. He begged for money. God knows your desires before even you do. He knew that that man wanted to walk and so it was His will that Peter and John walked by that man that day. He was now a believer and spread the Word of God to all he met. Christ heals all. It may not be the way you wanted it to but it is still done.
It is not only physical healing that Christ heals. It is worry, and guilt for sins. It doesn’t matter what it is in life your are going through. The darkest hour in “this” life is the brightest day for Christ. 2 Corinthians 12:9 tells us “ My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” So you see it doesn’t matter. Give your problems to God. Let him carry the weight of your sins like He did carrying the Cross. Let your Sins be forgiven, put your worries in the palm of his hand for he will take them away. Another wonderful Scripture that tells of “a new you” is Romans 6:1 It tells that as we were baptized in Jesus Christ we were also baptized in his death. As as Christ was resurrected from death by God our Father we too were raised Born Again with out sin! Remember to thank God everyday for everything no matter if it’s good or bad. Be grateful for the bad and drive Satan back where he belongs.
Devotion
Its easy to be “Christian like” on Sundays. You go to church and pray, you give your tithing, you sing and kind of listen to what the Pastor is talking about hoping that he is done so you have enough time to fight traffic home before the big game or race starts. It doesn’t make you anything more than human to be distracted by what’s going on here on earth.
To walk the Christian life and do things the way God wants is not a 1 hour a week scheduled activity. Its everyday, its all day as much as you possibly can. I’m sure most of you pray before eating at home. How often do you do it when you are out to dinner with your family. If you don’t, Why? Are you worried that people may look at you while your head is down giving God thanks for providing you and blessing you with the money to be able to go out and eat? Do you just forget? Matthew 10:33 says “ if you deny me before man, I will deny you before my Father” Don’t be embarrassed, you may find you’re not the only one doing it. You may remind someone else to do the same thing.
2 Timothy 2:12 “if we endure, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us.” A relationship with God is one that will never end, it never fades on his side. Gods love is never-ending, his Grace is sufficient. God will always forgive no matter what you do, no matter what you say. The love of Our God is the greatest love we will ever know while on this earth.
Tis the Season
Well thanksgiving has come and gone and that can only mean one this… Get out the bigger pants. Not really but it does mean the Christmas shopping season is amoung us. People everywhere were up and at it early on “black friday”. Lets not forget while we are out the reason for the season. Its about Christ and celebrating his birth and his life. Not that we shouldnt everyday but on this day for sure. My family is starting a new tradidtion this year. In place of pies we are making a cake. A birthday cake for our Lord and Savior on his birthday. I encourage you to do the same thing. Have a cake light a candle (not 2010 of them) and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.
Mary, a virgin, was living in Galilee of Nazareth and was engaged to be married to Joseph, a Jewish carpenter. An angel visited her and explained to her that she would conceive a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. She would carry and give birth to this child and she would name him Jesus.
At first Mary was afraid and troubled by the angel’s words. Being a virgin, Mary questioned the angel, “How will this be?” The angel explained that the child would be God’s own Son and, therefore, “nothing is impossible with God.” Humbled and in awe, Mary believed the angel of the Lord and rejoiced in God her Savior.
Answers
How many times have you asked God for something, whether it be a sign that things will get better or asking for something. Have you ever heard the answer? I’ve had people ask me how I have heard Gods answers to my prayers. Sometimes its hard to understand when He speaks to you. Some people have heard a voice, some have come across the answers in church or scripture they come across. For me most of the time it’s a feeling. I recently asked God for something. It wasn’t money or anything like that. It was something that would bring me years of happiness. With in hours I found what I was looking for. I have prayed about it because it is something that is going to take time and work to get to where I want to be with this situation. Prayer is the most POWERFULL tool God has given us. His Grace is the biggest gift. The power of prayer can make life’s problems so much easier to handle. While some situations may be a “quick fix” others, like the one I am going thru take time and work from all people involved and from God. Life is not easy, it wasn’t designed to be. You will always have bumps in the road, you will always have temptations to do the wrong thing. The trick to life is looking to God for the answers or direction on how to deal with life. There was a time in my life when God wasn’t in it. I didn’t pray, I didn’t read the Bible or any devotions, I just removed my faith from my life. I thought I had control. I quickly realized that was not so true. I didn’t do it on purpose I just stopped praying. I stopped asking him for guidance. Life quickly became to much to deal with on my own and as quickly as I stopped I put my self right back into it. Amazingly things began to fall into place once again. Life was a little bit easier to deal with, and I was for the first time in a long time at peace inside with little to no worries. Always seek first the Word of God.
Never give up
This devotion is not the one I set out to write this week. Today has been one of those day that nothing went right. I had a bad day at work, after work I was working on my boat the rest of the afternoon till I could no longer see at night, still nothing worked the way I had it planned. Then just as I was getting this weeks entry finished up the program on my computer decided it wanted to close and I lost all I had worked on. As I sat there asking myself what else could happen I almost gave up on today. I messaged Matt and told him what happened and asked him if he could write something for me that I just didn’t have the energy to do this all over again. As soon as he said yeah no problem a new feeling came over me that I just had to redo this myself. For as long as I finished this simple task something would have gone right for me today. Its not always the BIG things in life that can give you gratification. Like with anything else in life something small can mean just as much as something big that you started and completed. Had I chosen to not rewrite this I felt that I would have let God down. This is my calling for now. Its more than just a few words that are typed and uploaded to a website that people read (but you never comment hint hint). In Luke 18:1 Jesus told his Disciples a parable that showed them they should pray and never give up. Much like the lesson that God taught Job, Had Job given up and stopped having faith he would have faced certain death. Keep the faith and never give up..
Ask correctly!!!
How often do you really get to see with wide open eyes the things that God created. We did that over the weekend. We also learned a valuable lesson. Praying is not a science, nor is there any standard way to do it. You talk with God and tell him what you’re thinking and what you need. Have you ever prayed for something and got what you wanted but not exactly the way you were hoping? Well that happened to us this weekend. We went camping in the beautiful Myakka River State Park in Sarasota Fl. Matt and I had both prayed for a campsite to come available. We knew with the great weather we had been having that it was going to be a tough task to get one, but we had faith that God would allow something to open up for us. Well….. He did. It was what they call primitive camping. No bathroom or running water, and it was a 2.2 mile hike to the camp site. We were no where near equipped to hike that far. We had regular backpacks and 2 coolers loaded with food and drinks. Yet we took the camp site. We learned a valuable lesson we should have prayed for a family camp site. One you could drive up to. So many people I have talked to have said “God doesn’t answer my prayers.” Well are you just praying in general that you may not see the answer. You cant ask God for something in general if it is something you need that is specific. Pray to specifics. Don’t ask for something so outrageous that even you don’t think it can happen. don’t ask God for you to magically receive a check for a million dollars. Most likely….its not going to happen. If you ask him to make sure your needs are taken care of that is a more expectable prayer. Praying is nothing more than talking to God, so what are you waiting for start talking!!!!!!
Addiction and God
Addiction can come in may forms. Can happen for any reason. You can have a normal life one second and the next spiral downward to a dangerous place. It can be drugs or alcohol or gambling even sex or smoking. One thing for sure the easiest way to beat this problem is ask God for help. In God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26. With that being said there is nothing, no problem to big or to small for God to handle. All it takes is telling God. “ God I cant do this on my own anymore. I can no longer fight this addiction by myself. Please heal this problem and help me get my life back.” Obviously its not just as easy as saying it and poof your fixed. It takes time and effort and work on your part but God will do the hard part for you. He will show you the direction to a healthy life away from what ever addiction you have.
One friend of mine was out with his friends from work. He was drunk and this behavior seemed to be happening more and more. He left the bar he was at drunk and smoking a cigarette. In the rain he laid there drunk and wet realizing that he had missed the last bus home. As he laid on that bench he asked God for help. He had decided at that point in his life he was going to get serious about building a stronger relationship with God.
Another friend of mine had ended up in jail. Detoxing from weeks of drugs he met a man that was building his life around God. Keith never being one to pick up a bible or pray decided it was time to do his “time” a little different. Another inmate was holding nightly bible studies and prayer meeting in his cell and Keith decided to join them. As they ended the hour they all stood and joined hands for the ending prayer. Keith being the new guy they asked him if he would like to say the prayer. As he stood there with his cell mates praying for the first time his palms all of a sudden became hot and he was drenched in sweat as if God was “washing” his sins away and giving him a new start.
God is good all the time, not just in times when you need him but even when things are good. How often do you just take a few minutes to thank God for the things you do have rather than cursing him for not giving you more. God will always provide you with exactly what you need to fulfill your purpose in life.
Prayer Request
The past couple weeks have been really tough for a lot of people I know. Death is something we all know will happen one day. it’s a reality of life. Life has a purpose. We are all here for a reason. God knows that reason and once our task that God has set for us in complete he calls for us to be at his side. Life how ever long or short on this planet is just temporary. it’s a holding tank of sorts that keeps us busy doing Gods work till its our time. My very close friend Jackie has lost 2 people she was very close with in less than a week. Her Grandmother whom she was very close to and just a few hours after her family laid her to rest she received news that one of her oldest friends Casey had passed as well. Please keep her and all of their family and friends in your prayers as this is so hard to lose the ones you love and cherish.
Another very close friend of mine Danielle lost her Grandmother this week as well. Please also keep her family in your prayers and thoughts.
Even though they are no longer here in body they are here in spirit. Look up and smile because they are looking down smiling on you, hoping that you know they love you and care. Jackie and Danielle you are in my prayers as well as your families.
Lord thank you for taking these wonderful people into you kingdom. Please help the friends and families work threw the loss. Help them see that they should celebrate their life and not mourn their Death. For they are and always will be alive in you. Please place your hand on them and comfort them in their time of loss and give them that warm feeling in their heart that tells them its going to be ok.
In Jesus name we pray
Amen…
